Johnathan is a native of Gastonia, NC, a 2002 Forestview High School, and a 2006 graduate University of North Carolina at Charlotte. He resides in Gastonia and has three children, Jacob, Jayne, & Josie. He serves on the board of directors for Heart Society of Gaston County.
